Creating an online poster allows you to include many different types of media, and also allows your poster to reach a wider audience. An online poster is an attractive way of explaining your topic with the use of images, videos, links, text, icons, music, etc. There are many free online tools that enable you to create an online digital poster.
Let's do it!
Step 1 Think about all the life skills you have. What courses have you taken? Are you good at anything in particular? What are you interested in? What do your friends and family say about you? Organize your ideas on a task sheet before going on the computer.
Step 2 Click here and create your poster. Look for images, videos and other things online that you could use in your poster. Remember to choose an attractive background and use different colours, too.
1. Find an image on the web you identify with. Click here , here or here to look for one. Then publish it as a post on your blog and write an accompanying text. Explain why you have chosen it and why you consider it your image or symbol. What does it tell about you? Add the image credit (link)
2. Label your post as Symbol.
3. Choose three classmates and write them a comment about the image or symbol they have chosen.
Look up in the dictionary the definition of the word empathy and write it on your blog.
Step 2
Look at the picture of the man below, put yourself in his shoes and try to empathise with him. Imagine you are the man and think about the following questions:
2.1 Where do I come from?
2.2 What do I do?
2.3 What have I done in my life?
2.4 How am I feeling right now?
Now, discuss them with a partner.
Step3
Watch the video Mankind is No Island directed by Jason van Genderen and shot entirely on a cell pone in the streets of NY and Sydney. Answer the questions below:
3.1 What is the video about?
3.2 What does the video tell us about love and human relationships?
3.3 Choose two words from the video and explain why you have chosen them.
3.4 Find 5 adjectives to describe the video.
Step4
4.1 Name the post as Mankind is No Island.
4.2 Label the post as Task.
Step 5: Discussion questions
Discuss the following questions with a partner:
5.1 Are there many homeless people in Girona?
5.2 What are the main causes of homelessness?
5.3What can governments do to prevent homelessness?
5.4 What can you do to help homeless people?
5.5 How do you feel when you see a homeless person?
5.6 If you were a homeless, how would you feel and what would you do all day?
5.7 Is homelessness a "hidden" issue for society and homeless people "invisible"?
1. Have a look at your wardrobe and pick up 4 garments (not underwear) or accessories to talk about. This is both a speaking and writing activity, so we're looking for a short paragraph on each. Try to use some interesting vocabulary and recycle some of the language we've looked at in class.
2. You'll need to present the potos in class and talk about them for 5 min. You must be prepared to answer questions from your classmates and the teacher.
3. Prepare a PowerPoint, convert it to Slideshare and upload it on your blog.
